Summary 
We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Shift Engineer for a large, well-established manufacturer based within the Ebbw Vale area of South Wales.  The company have a large customer base, supplying various companies throughout the UK.  The role is a shift-based position working a continental shift pattern including days and nights.

They are currently seeking an Mechanical Engineer to join their Maintenance Team due to company expansion.  The role involves working a continental nights’ shift pattern 7PM – 7AM.

You will achieve a salary or £32,000.

 

The Role
The Mechanical Shift Engineer will work as part of a team in a busy and demanding manufacturing environment. 

Duties will include:

  • Undertaking planned and reactive maintenance of the plant
  • Effectively and efficiently responding to machine failures
  • Troubleshooting, fault finding and repairing a range of plant equipment
  • Assisting with general site services
  • Upkeep of reports and records
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation

 

The Candidate

  • HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. (desirable)
  • 5 or more GCSEs (or equivalent) at A-C grade which will include English, Mathematics and Science. (essential)
  • Time served mechanical apprenticeship. (essential)
  • Counterbalance forklift licence. (advantageous – not essential)
  • Experience in FMCG
  • Previous experience in a BRC Certified workplace. (desirable)
  • Machining and Welding (desirable)
  • Previous experience reacting to mechanical breakdowns
  • Hands on Approach
  • Self-motivating
  • Manage workload
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Attention to detail
  • Good timekeeping
  • Be able to work both unsupervised and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Computer literacy
